Traditional folk songs and dances, from across the globe, have been inspiring composers of art music for centuries. Jamie Allen will give us a brief tour of works by master composers that draw on these rich musical veins, from Hungarian Rhapsodies to American Jazz (and lots in between). If time allows, we may even listen to an example from Jamie's own oeuvre. Please feel free to share your own examples as well!
