Come learn Ikebana, which is practiced all over the world. Having flowers in your life enriches your feelings and creativity.

Introducing our new Books Beyond Borders Series!
We’re excited to launch our Books Beyond Borders series at International House with this first event this month! Local journalist and author Philip Eil, who recently published his acclaimed debut book Prescription for Pain: How A Once Promising Doctor Became the “Pill Mill Killer”, will be in conversation with local community activist and public health researcher, Jackie Goldman. They will chat about his book, the overdose epidemic in the United States, and how it impacts our Ocean State, with an emphasis on local efforts for prevention and harm reduction.

Join us at International House on Friday, May 16th as we welcome the beautiful music of Gained in Translation!
Doors open at 6:00. Show 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Light refreshments served. Concert will be held outside (indoors if raining) with seating.
Gained in Translation is a group of top notch musicians whose multi language, genre-hopping musical repertoire will take you from the subtle beauty of bossa-nova to the sheer exuberance of Russian Gypsy music, and everything in between! Come listen and dance to the favorites both familiar (and not so familiar!) by Frank Sinatra, Dionne Warwick, Dean Martin, Jobim, Los Panchos, Aznavour, Piaf and others. The group will be singing in: French, Ukrainian, Russian, Gypsy, Portuguese and Creole, Japanese, German, Swahili, Italian, Spanish & Yiddish. Beautiful music and languages presented to you by Maurice Methot: rhythm guitar, vocals, Chris Brooks : lead guitar, vocals, Julie Fischer: bass, Victoria Richter: accordion, vocals.
