International House is delighted to welcome a group of world-class Chinese and American poets and translators for a very special reading! National Book Award Winner Ha Jin is joined by fellow internationally-acclaimed poets and translators Lan Lan, Xue Di, Wang Jiaxin, Qingyan, Jami Proctor Xu, Eleanor Goodman, and Fangkai Lyu for an evening of poetry and a discussion of the choices and challenges involved in poetic translation.  We hope that you will join us for this very exciting evening!

Gained in Translation is a group of top notch musicians whose multi language, genre-hopping musical repertoire will take you from the subtle beauty of bossa-nova to the sheer exuberance of Russian Gypsy music, and everything in between! Come listen and dance to the favorites both familiar (and not so familiar!) by Frank Sinatra, Dionne Warwick, Dean Martin, Jobim, Los Panchos, Aznavour, Piaf and others. The group will be singing in: French, Ukrainian, Russian, Gypsy, Portuguese and Creole, Japanese, German, Swahili, Italian, Spanish & Yiddish. Beautiful music and languages presented to you by Maurice Methot: rhythm guitar, vocals, Chris Brooks : lead guitar, vocals, Julie Fischer: bass, Victoria Richter: accordion, vocals.
