International Friendship Program:

In Fall, as new international students arrive at Brown University to start their graduate studies, International House of Rhode Island invites you to join our International Friendship Program. This initiative connects students eager to explore American culture with local community residents who offer warmth and hospitality. While students don’t live with their hosts, they receive guidance on settling in, learning about customs, and integrating into the community. Hosts might invite students to their homes for special events and holidays, fostering a meaningful, ongoing relationship.

For Students:

  • Connect with friendly locals in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts.

  • Experience American customs and culture firsthand.

  • Enjoy invitations to special events and holidays with your host.

For Hosts:

  • Welcome international students into your community.

  • Share your knowledge of local customs and traditions.

  • Build a meaningful, lasting relationship.

  • Learn about global cultures and perspectives.

Each pairing is unique, and many participants have formed lifelong friendships through this enriching program. We look forward to your participation!
